Qiyana Build Guide

Qiyana Build Guide

Overview

Long ago, the four nations lived in harmony. Then everything changed when the fire nation attacked. Wait… wrong series. Qiyana is, however, the master of the elements, at least in the world of Runeterra. She’s an assassin with one of the strongest ultimates in the game when it comes to skirmishes in tight corridors, and as a champion with a high mastery curve, those who put the time in with her will find good results. Keys to Remember About Qiyana

  1. Qiyana's ultimate can crush enemy teams if they're corralled together alongside walls in the jungle -- she is a champion that constantly wants to take fights near terrain and should not hesitate to look for them in those areas before enemy teams are able to retreat to more open spaces.

  2. She has a steep learning curve thanks to how she gains elements and how those elements affect her Edge of Ixtal [Q]. It's going to take some time to learn, but you can buy a lot of learning time for yourself with good ultimate usage.

Strengths

Supreme Display of Talent [R] can completely win fights for you, especially if you’re able to stun enemies as they line up along walls. This makes her excellent at trying to catch enemies in rotation and whenever she roams to help support her jungler. This is made easier with the mobility built into Terrashape [W] and Audacity [E], both of which will allow her to quickly jump onto targets or to reposition in fights. She’s very strong in duels and should be constantly looking to fight in the early and mid game.

Weaknesses

She’s a difficult champion to pick up thanks to the intricacies between all of her elements -- knowing what each one does and what your limits are at all times is going to be a steep learning curve at the beginning. It makes her Elemental Wrath / Edge of Ixtal [Q] in particular feel more like it’s multiple abilities rather than one. And as an assassin, she’s going to rely on the mastery over those abilities to maximize her kill potential -- not being able to finish enemies is always going to leave her vulnerable to being counter engaged on and killed.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: You want to always be ready to play for kills -- this means you should be forcing the issue early. If your opponent plays too safe, you can instead try to shove your lane in and roam.

  2. Mid Game: You can push out side lanes and then look for picks -- she’s very strong in the jungle thanks to always being near terrain for her ultimate. It can also be used to generate a pick from a long distance if you have vision and follow up from your team.

  3. Late Game: Same idea as mid game, though at this point, it will generally be harder to find picks. You should constantly look for flank angles and be ready to pop your ultimate if an enemy steps too close to a wall.
