Renata Build Guide

Renata Build Guide

Overview

A ranged support with the ability to bring an ally back from death, Renata is a powerful champion that offers some of the utility of enchanters while still bringing a big team fighting ultimate to the table that can greatly disrupt multiple enemies. The ranged advantage in lane can also allow her to bully out many matchups, which makes her a solid pick, especially against teams with assassination capabilities. Keys to Remember About Renata Glasc

  1. She's very much a front-to-back champion, even if you have some good pick potential with your Handshake [Q]. You almost always want to be peeling backwards so that you have the option to Bailout [W] your team or to follow up on engages with Hostile Takeover [R].

  2. Bailout [W] can be difficult to see -- you'll run into many instances where your carry literally bails out of a bad situation instead of trying to secure a kill to save themselves. Just remember that you can lead a horse to a watering hole, but you can't drink for it!

Strengths

When timed correctly, Bailout [W] can be one of the strongest abilities in the game, as it can double as a way to kill an enemy while saving your ally. This is really impactful in a front-to-back kind of fight, where Renata already wants to be in the back to begin with. All of her abilities do well in this manner with Loyalty Program [E] shielding allies and slowing enemies in the same cast, or her ultimate Hostile Takeover [R] being a wide range ability that pushes through the entire enemy team and causing them to go berserk. She’s very strong when you have hyper carries who want to limit test -- those champions that say “if only I had one more second, I would have killed all of them” are going to love her.

Weaknesses

She’s a squishy champion lacking in mobility, which means enemies with lots of engage options are going to find it easy to jump on her. She can disengage with Handshake [Q], but it can often not be enough to get away from the best divers in the game. Renata’s ultimate can also be difficult to hit, even though it has a large area of effect, which can sometimes make it more of a zoning tool if you don’t have help on the setup from teammates. Bailout [W] can also be difficult to see -- in the heat of the battle, it’s not always easy for teammates to realize they have it on, and it might cause them to miss out on the interaction entirely.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: The success of your lane phase often hinges on how many Handshakes [Q] you’re able to land in lane -- they can lead to favorable trades if not outright kills depending on how strong your ADC is.

  2. Mid Game: As an enchanter, you’ll be able to help out allies as you join from behind in fights, but be wary of going off on your own on roams -- you are very easy to kill!

  3. Late Game: You want to basically be playing behind your team at all times -- any enemies who overextend for kills can be quickly out of luck thanks to Bailout [Q].
