While harvesting orbs for his transformation, if he damages melee champions more than ranged champions he will transform to Rhaast, if damage was dealt more to ranged champions he will transform to Shadow Assassin.

Kayn does best after purchasing several items. For Shadow Assassin, his big spike will be after Warrior,
, and for Rhaast, it will usually be Warrior,

Main power spike comes after he transforms due to
. Shadow Assassin is best against vulnerable and squishy targets while Rhaast is best against tanky team comps.
Another power spike comes after finishing
. After finishing both items, Kayn's ganking potential becomes a lot higher. Keep an eye out for this spike so you'll know when to start playing safer.
Kayn is most vulnerable in the early game, before transforming
to the Shadow Assassin or Rhaast.
