Fortnite C6S1 Competitive Details & Tournament Integrity
Fortnite C6S1 Competitive Details & Tournament Integrity

With this upcoming Chapter, comes all-new tournaments. We’ve got details on FNCS Divisional Cups, the PlayStation Cup, and prizing. Also, OG Cups, updates on Ranked Cups and more! But first, let’s address cheating in tournaments.

Competitive Integrity in Tournaments

It’s imperative to Epic that competitive Fortnite remains fun and fair for all players who participate. We’re making a number of fundamental changes to tournaments in order to combat cheating and improve the experience for competitors. Here are some of the initial measures we’re taking, starting with the new Battle Royale season in December:

  • We’ve restructured all tournaments to place cash prizes at the highest levels of competition in each region, including the new FNCS Divisional Cups, which will require players to advance through multiple rounds of competition before being able to compete for prizes. More details below.
  • Anyone found teaming up with a cheater in a tournament will face a minimum 28-day competitive ban, which will increase in duration with every subsequent violation. Know your teammates well to avoid penalties.
  • If players have a competitive ban of 14 days or longer, they will not be able to compete in FNCS tournaments during that season or any season that the ban overlaps with.
  • We’re also ramping up legal action against both players who cheat and cheat sellers.
  • We’re looking into additional competitive requirements before being eligible to play in tournaments with cash prizes.
  • We continue working on and investing in new classes of detection to combat cheating in Fortnite, including technical changes in-game and continued iteration on all of our formats over time, from Ranked Cups to FNCS. We will share more details soon. If you suspect someone may be cheating, please submit a report in-game so we can investigate.

    FNCS Divisional Cups

On December 7th, compete with your trio in the new FNCS Trial to qualify in your region for one of three competitive divisions. Placing in the top 200 trios will immediately qualify you for Division 1 where each week you’ll have the opportunity to compete for a spot in the Division 1 Cup Finals and compete for cash prizes. Each week, while Division 1 fights it out for a spot in the final, players in Division 2 and 3 will be competing to be promoted to the division above. Importantly, players who have achieved Division 1 will be eligible for the FNCS Major Play-In Stage later in the season. In the future, we’ll be skipping the FNCS Trial and starting the season based on your best placement in Divisional Cups across the season. This will raise integrity and the caliber of competition from Week 1. Top performance in Division 1 or 2? You’ll start there right away. New Gold Ranked or higher competitors will start in Division 3 and work their way to the top. Check out the FAQ at the end of this article for more details about FNCS Divisional Cups.

    Battle Royale Ranked Cups

Battle Royale Ranked Cups will run each weekend throughout the Season. In addition, on Wednesdays and Thursdays when Divisional Cups are on, we’ll be hosting Bronze and Silver Ranked Cups for those who have not yet achieved Gold Rank. Earn at least 50 points during a Ranked Cup to unlock the Ranker’s Shogun ‘Brella !

  • FNCS Format FAQ

Can I change teams during Divisional Cups?

  • The individual player qualifies for a division. So each week you can try new teammates as long as all players are qualified in the appropriate division.
  • Making it to Division 1 or 2 means you can also play in a lower division in future weeks. That said, once you commit to a division in a given week you can’t change division until the next week.
  • Can I play in Divisional Cups in multiple regions?

  • Yes, you can play in multiple regions within a single week (as long as you’re eligible to compete in that region’s Divisional Cup). For example, you could play in the Week 5 EU Division 1 Cup and the Week 5 NAC Division 1 Cup, as long as you’re ranked in FNCS Division 1 in each region.
  • The FNCS Trial can only be played in one region.
  • Can I play in another region’s FNCS Major?

  • Making it to Division 1 in a region does not grant you eligibility for FNCS in all regions - only in the region you qualified in.
  • Players are only eligible to participate in one region for Major 1. Once you participate in the FNCS Play-In or the FNCS LCQ in a particular region, you’re locked to that region for the remainder of FNCS Major 1.
  • How many players get promoted each week?

  • Season 1 will begin with the following placements.
