Jinx Build Guide

Jinx Build Guide

Overview

The main character of League of Legends? Depends on who you ask and whether or not they’ve watched Arcane. Jinx is a hyper carry -- one of the original ones at that -- who scales extremely well into late game and can use the resets on her passive to snowball fights completely in your team’s favor. Keys to Remember About Jinx

  1. She's a hyper carry, which means you should always try to play out games. It only takes one reset -- whether it's from a champion or by killing a turret -- for her to pop off and start carrying fights. Her mobility is entirely reliant on that reset to give her enough move speed to dodge enemy abilities, so you do need fancy footwork to maximize her potential.

  2. In general, you want to use mini-gun form when you know you'll be auto-attacking a target for a while and rocket form when you can burst them down. Late game, it's almost always easiest to just stay rocket form if you aren't confident in quickly switching forms.

Strengths

Get Excited [P] is an extremely power passive that allows Jinx to easily reposition and chase down enemies in a team fight -- this is the primary reason she’s so potent at securing multi kills. The extra range on rocket form for Switcheroo [Q] makes it easy for her to attack enemies from safety, and in the late game, mana becomes much less of a concern for her. Zap [W] and Flame Chompers [E] are excellent tools at keeping her safe before she’s able to proc her passive, and they’re also good at setting up picks and getting fights going. She basically just needs one reset to be able to pop off in a fight, and her whole kit is geared towards making that happen, including her Super Mega Death Rocket [R], which can easily finish off retreating enemies.

Weaknesses

Without resets, she is much, much weaker -- this means teams that engage on her first and force her backwards may find more success than when she’s able to dictate the terms of the fight. It also means she’s susceptible to high mobility champions that can just jump on her and kill her off. It’ll require precise positioning from her to be able to both do damage and not die to random enemies. Switcheroo [Q] may also take a bit of time to get used to -- being able to switch between the two forms to maximize damage is going to matter a lot in extended fights.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: Jinx is fairly weak early, but she can trade back with her rocket form if needed. As long as you abuse the range, you can hold your own in lane.

  2. Mid Game: You’ll start to scale at this point, but you’re more of a clean up champion still -- play safe and take what’s in front of you rather than overextending.

  3. Late Game: At this point, you have 1v5 potential thanks to the range on your rocket form. You can use it to chip out enemies, and those who overstep can sometimes die in a couple of auto-attacks from you.
