Overview
If your gameplay fantasy is just walking at people (but menacingly), then Udyr might be the champion for you. He’s a champion that has a lot of carry potential should he have the right allies around him to enable him to get into the action, and short of that, he’s still a split pushing menace that can essentially PvE his way to victory if needed. Udyr has a lot of early game strength, which means he should constantly look for opportunities to invade the enemy jungler to keep them in check.
It's unusual for a jungler to commit to split pushing, but in the end game, that's often the best option for him -- it can be find to ignore some objectives if you're able to pressure inhibitor turrets (or even Nexus turrets), especially if your team is losing fights when you group.
Strengths
Udyr is extremely strong in a straight fight if you can convince someone to stand there and just trade punches with you -- this unfortunately doesn’t happen that often, though, which means he’ll need to be adept at moving with his opponents as he autos them. Red Buff helps with this a great deal early, as do laners who can provide CC to help him stick to his targets. He’s got a lot of good movement speed early, and his strong jungle clear makes it easy for him to take objectives as long as his teammates can control their laners. Once he’s able to get going, he can burst down enemies himself just from Blazing Stampede [E] and is going to be a nightmare to deal with in head to head situations. And if you find team fights to be difficult, then Udyr can also offer a lot of split pushing pressure throughout the game, though that can be difficult as jungler if major objectives are still on the map.
Weaknesses
Teams can kite him pretty easily if they are able to layer their CC onto him and keep him at a distance. This is compounded by the fact that his kit is pretty straightforward and simple, as he doesn’t have a particularly strong ultimate to spike his power curve. Udyr is a champion that can thrive or fall on his face depending on the champion select phase -- enemies with low mobility and low CC are both going to be easy pickings for him, so he should typically be picked later in the draft to maximize his value.
Game Plan
Early Game: He should have a lot of power to bully enemies around early in the game -- it’ll be hard for them to contest him at objectives.
Mid Game: The objective control remains strong through this phase, and he should continue to apply pressure by counter jungling or looking for skirmishes.
Late Game: He’s not a great team fighter unless he’s super far ahead or is able to get great flanks over and over -- in general, it may be easier to try to peel for your team.
