Yunara Build Guide

Yunara Build Guide

Overview

Yunara is one of the few bot laners who doesn’t use any sort of weapon to generate her ranged attacks. She simply… punches the air… really hard. Or something like that. She excels in extended engagements where she can continuously attack and reposition herself, and her ultimate expands the effects of her base abilities to increase her playmaking potential. Keys to Remember About Yunara

  1. She's an auto-attacked focused champion, which means you need to be adept at orbwalking. Constantly moving on the run is key to success with her, as her style requires you to maximize your auto-attacks to generate consistent damage.

  2. Mobility can help enable the playmaking potential on her kit, but it's the Arc of Judgement [W] that will truly let her secure picks and start fights -- landing it on extended enemies can be the trigger for your team to start a fight!

Strengths

Thanks to the bonus magic damage on Vow of the First Lands [P], Yunara is a champion that comes with a mixed damage profile, which can be extremely helpful when your team is overloaded on physical damage especially (which seems to happen way more in Solo Queue than it should). Her basic pattern is to slow enemies with Arc of Judgement [W] and then chase them down with the mobility boost in Kanmei’s Steps [E]. Her ultimate, Transcend One’s Self [R], just amplifies the effectiveness of his pattern. This makes her a very simple champion to learn who comes with a bit of variety in her kit, and like other champions that want to chase down enemies, she’ll be extremely oppressive when ahead.

Weaknesses

The flip side is that if she’s behind, she’ll struggle to provide much value. Without hard CC or burst damage, you’re going to feel like all you have is mosquito-like auto-attacks in your arsenal if you run into enemies that can just ignore you. This puts a larger onus on you to keep up with the pace of the gaming but that might be difficult as an ADC -- sometimes the rest of the map is extremely bloody and there’s not much you can do to match them. You’ll also need extended fights to keep the Cultivation of Spirit [Q] capped out to maximize her damage, which can be harder against heavy poke teams or skirmishers that constantly weave in and out.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: Landing Arc of Judgement [W] early can help trigger a fight for your support -- that’s going to be the key to getting anything going.

  2. Mid Game: At this point, you can look to generate picks with your W. Your mobility will also make it easier to join skirmishes in terrain-heavy areas of the map.

  3. Late Game: You should be saving most of your kit to peel for yourself at this point -- identify which enemies can jump onto you and save your ultimate + dash combo for them.
