Overview
A champion that brings a mix of damage and mobility to the table, Aurora is a mid lane mage whose spells lean on some magic and trickery to defeat opponents. With a creative ultimate and the ability to briefly stealth, she’s a difficult champion to lock down and she has enough burst to make you pay for it. Keys to Remember About Aurora
Aurora is a champion that can deal quick burst with her core Q -> E combo, but it's not the same kind of one shot burst that some other mages bring. She's a champion that does better over an extended fight as she's able to quickly recast abilities and maneuver around thanks to Between Worlds [R].
Between Worlds [R] offers a lot of creativity in how you pick engagements -- you can bait enemies to one end and then hop to the other for an escape, for example, or use it to help you clear terrain. The simplest way to use it, though, is as an AoE nuke and slow on clumps of enemies -- it's a great signal for your team to start fighting.
Strengths
She’s a champion that will reward creative players -- Between Worlds [R] unlocks a lot of potential for how she can fight thanks to how it allows her to bounce from one end of the spell to the other and because of the stealth she gains with Bunny Hopper. Between Worlds [R] is also fairly easy to use in terms of getting the damage and slow portion of it off, so even if you’re unable to maximize the added mobility it provides, you will still find good value from it as long as you are able to hit multiple enemies. She has a simple trade pattern early that will serve as her bread and butter for damage throughout the game.
Weaknesses
She can be lacking in damage, especially if you fall behind, as a lot of her potential comes from being able to land Electrocute and her passive, Spirit Abjuration [P] to maximize the damage on Twofold Hex [Q]. And early in the game, enemies who are aggressive will force her to pick between wave clearing and dealing damage -- if they advance on her as her Q is down, she has no real means to fight back. And while Between Worlds [R] is a very powerful ability, it can be very tricky to properly keep track of where she is as she bounces through it.
Game Plan
Early Game: She can play aggressively for trades with Q and E, though if she misses them, she’ll be very vulnerable to return damage. Focus on securing farm and gaining priority in lane so you can roam to help your team as needed.
Mid Game: She should use her mobility to manage side waves and then look to make plays -- it’s very easy to start fights with her ultimate, and the range on it can often catch enemies off guard.
Late Game: She’s a champion who can deal consistent damage in fights as long as she’s alive, so after using her ultimate, the priority is to position herself properly. She’s great at generating picks and at disrupting enemy positioning.
