Aurelion Sol Build Guide

Aurelion Sol Build Guide

Overview

You know how JRPGs go from the first quest being “save the kitten from the tree” to the final battle being “kill god?” Well, League of Legends’ own version of that is going from minions to Aurelion Sol. At least in the lore. There’s definitely something wrong about how some League of Legends champions are literally just a guy with a sword and others, like Aurelion Sol, are at the deity level. But hey -- who are we to judge? Aurelion Sol is a great scaling champion with a lot of map pressure from the mid lane! Click here for the latest data on his best builds, including Runes, Items, Summoner Spells, and more.

Keys to Remember About Aurelion Sol

  1. Aurelion Sol's abilities scale as the game progresses, which means you should always be willing to play to scale, even if the early game looks rough. Be optimistic! All it takes is one good ultimate late game to win the game for your team.

  2. He's has a roam-heavy playstyle thanks to being able to quickly clear the wave and disappear to side lanes with Astral Flight [W] -- you want to constantly pressure enemies like this.

Strengths

Aurelion Sol is a scaling monster (literally… if space dragons are monsters that is) thanks to his Cosmic Creator [P] allowing him to gather stardust to improve his abilities throughout the game. Once he’s able to use The Skies Descend [R], his ultimate becomes one of the most impactful (heh) abilities in the game thanks to its wide range, damage, stun and ability to slow multiple enemies at once. He’s very strong in tight corridors and can create a big opening for your team to fight. Combined with Astral Flight [W], this means he can find the engage from a lot of different angles (or use the ult and then quickly retreat to safety to continue dishing out damage). The mobility also makes him a great roamer early as he can quickly join fights and find disruption even early on with Singularity [E]. His pattern is simple: clear waves with Breath of Light [Q] and then roam around the map to help the team.

Weaknesses

Once Astral Flight [W] is down, he can be jumped on and killed fairly easily thanks to being a squishy champion. This means he can be vulnerable on roams, especially if he’s not careful about which enemy wards he’s stepping over -- especially if he decides to use the W to creatively go over walls or to force an engage on a skirmish or a side lane. He’s also a champion that’s going to need time to ramp up to reach his potential, so he can be bullied a bit in the lane phase.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: Focus on clearing the wave and scaling up -- it’s hard for him to find solo kills without a big gaffe from enemies, but if you can land Singularity [E] consistently, then there are opportunities to go for kills once your ultimate is online.

  2. Mid Game: You’ll have good wave clear this point, so make sure to shove and then disappear from enemy vision. You can find picks with your ultimate if enemies face check bad spots or you can follow up on engages from your teammates.

  3. Late Game: Same ideas mid game, though you generally want to be grouped up and looking for fights. If you can land a big ultimate, you can win the game for your team.
