Zac Build Guide

Zac Build Guide

Overview

Inspired by the old Disney movie Flubber? Perhaps. But perhaps many of you have never even heard of that movie, and that’s fine, because it’s not particularly good. Zac is a big blob that excels at getting fights started thanks to his ability to literally bounce on top of enemies, and he is one of the few champions with a built-in revive mechanic thanks to his ability to split into blobs before actually dying. Keys to Remember About Zac

  1. He's one of the most reliable champions in the game when it comes to starting a fight -- the trade off, though, is his damage isn't going to be as great (it can still be enough to kill squishies if you're given time). Your goal is to setup your team to follow up, so make sure you're not engaging too far out of their range.

  2. If your passive is up, you can generally play more aggressively, as the blobs can bait enemies into overstaying to finish you off.

Strengths

Elastic Slingshot [E] is one of the best engage tools in the game thanks to being a base ability and because it has extremely long range. Combined with Let’s Bounce [R] and Stretching Strikes [Q], Zac has a lot of tools at disposal to disrupt enemies as he jumps on them -- this means you’ll never be lacking for fight opportunities with a Zac on your team. He’s also able to keep himself alive for a while if he’s cognizant about picking up his blobs from Cell Division [P], and as long as the cooldown on it is up, he’ll break into blobs that can come back together -- enemies that are unable to kill him will often have trouble getting him a second time.

Weaknesses

The problem with Elastic Slingshot [E] is that it is sometimes too good and too fun, and that means people are going to jump into situations they probably shouldn’t be jumping into. The cooldown is long enough that it can be very difficult for him to jump back out, and while he has a lot of tools to stay alive (or come back to life), he himself isn’t actually that tanky, so focused fire can proc his passive and put him in immediate danger. He’ll need a team that can actually follow up or utilize the space he creates, as he himself is low on the damage required to consistently kill enemies.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: Zac should gank early and often thanks to gain access to Elastic Slingshot [E] very early. He’ll get a spike at level 6, but his pre-6 ganks are already very strong and should be utilized.

  2. Mid Game: You are never going to excel at tanking or at dealing damage, so your job is to start fights for stronger allies -- if you can set them up, they should (should…) be able to deliver.

  3. Late Game: You can start fights with Elastic Slingshot [E], but you’ll typically want to peel back after that with Let’s Bounce [R] to help peel for your carries.
