Warwick Build Guide

Warwick Build Guide

Overview

For the longest time, Warwick was the most recommended champion for new players, especially if they wanted to give the jungle role a try. This was thanks to his simple kit and ability to easily sustain himself when he’s out on the map. Since his rework, the kit’s complexity has evolved but the core remains true, and he remains a great pick in both top and jungle. Keys to Remember About Warwick

  1. Enemies can tell you are nearby and on your Blood Hunt -- this will sometimes be used to bait you into diving them under a tower. Does this mean you shouldn't do it? No. Do it anyway. Just be aware that you might die.

  2. Because you can miss your Infinite Duress [R], it can be risky to use it when you don't have good vision of the enemy team. Warwick excels at picking off isolated targets but is much less effective when diving into a clump of enemies.

Strengths

Jaws of the Beast [Q] and Eternal Hunger [P] provide him with great sustain, which makes it extremely difficult to push him off of the map, even when you end up taking a losing trade. As long as you’re able to survive and peel back to hit some minions, you will be able to heal back up. This means you can take very aggressive fights throughout the lane phase as long as you’re careful to not die (easier said than done). Infinite Duress [R] is a great tool for picking opponents, and combined with Blood Hunt [W], it is one of the strongest abilities in the game early on. Low health enemies who take lazy recalls are particularly easy for Warwick to run down if he’s on their side of the map.

Weaknesses

His ganks are a lot weaker until he is able to get his ultimate online -- your only option is to rely on extended enemy laners (though, to be fair, this happens a lot in Solo Queue) that you can run down with red buff. Both Jaws of the Beast [Q] and Infinite Duress [R] can backfire on you if the enemy dashes or Flashes at the right timing and leaves you in the middle of nowhere (or directly under a tower) -- be careful about when and where you choose to use those abilities, especially on low HP enemies as they’ll have an indicator that you are near.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: You have great sustain, so you can farm to your heart’s content and try to push levels as quickly as possible. Once you are level 6, your gank potential becomes much higher and you can jump on anyone with their summoner spells down.

  2. Mid Game: Continue to look for fights whenever your ultimate is online, and do your best to snowball the game at this point in the game when you are still strong and can have good impact on the game.

  3. Late Game: At this point, you are likely outscaled and your abilities place you into immediate danger enough though you aren’t a true tank. Play for picks with your ultimate, otherwise you will need to rely on your team for some help.
