Easy Must-Know Unlockables to Start Your TFT Set 16 Ranked Climb!

Overview

TFT Set 16 has kicked off with a bang and is proving to be quite popular with both pros and amateurs alike! With 100 champions, though, it's also coming in as one of the more difficult sets to learn so far. We've got you covered with comps and stats on our TFT hub here, but below are some of the easier unlockables to learn and how to play them:

Graves

This is one of the most important ones to learn early because it caps super high and is super easy to play:

  • Play two items on Twisted Fate (this can be one complete item + one component)

  • Need to also hit Illaoi or Gangplank early

  • Transition into 3 Bilgewater -> 5 Bilgewater ->7 Bilgewater. Don't spend too much of your coins before you activate 5 -- pretty much only buy stuff early if it finishes a unit upgrade!

  • Use coins on Bilgewater Items as and equip as seen below!

Bard

  • This is one of the premier reroll comps in the game right now. All you have to do is roll 4 times before the Stage 2 Carousel.

  • The best time to roll is generally 2-3 if you're able to still stay above 10, otherwise it's okay to also roll on 2-1 or 2-2 to hit 1-cost pairs.

  • Roll on 6 for Bard + Sion core!

LeBlanc

  • Play 2 items on Sion (can be full item + one component). This usually transitions into the Mel comp in the next section, but it can pivot into any AP line. LeBlanc is really strong early with items and you can activate Noxus easily if you hit Briar.

Mel

  • You get a Mel by playing 2-star Ambessa and having her die with at least one item equipped.

  • This comp generally wants to stabilize a bit on level 8 -- not only do you want Swain (super contested) and Ambessa, but Seraphine or even LeBlanc 2 can be strong carries on Stage 4.

  • You recap at 9 around Mel and legendaries.

Galio

  • Play 12 unique levels of Demacians. What this means is you need to 2-star 5 of your Demacian units and then have 2 more 1-costs in. This generally means 2-starring everything besides Garen and Lux.

  • This comp is super underrated right now! Vayne3 is very strong and you can flex in a lot of legendary units after hitting Galio. You can sit on level 8 to roll for upgrades and Vayne3 or push for 9 and play 5-costs.

Baron Nashor

  • Void is pretty straightforward. You generally shouldn't play it if you don't have it on 2-1, as you need to field Void for 8 rounds to first play Rift Herald.

  • This comp has a super high 1st place rate!

  • It also has a super high bot 4 rate! This is because you need to hit level 10 to secure Baron. This means you want to avoid playing this comp without a win-streak opener and without good economy. It's hard to actually recommend this comp, but it's arguably the highest cap board in the game, so you should at least know what to do for it!
