Kassadin Build Guide

Kassadin Build Guide

Overview

Kassadin was once one of the most feared mid lane champion picks because of his ability to scale into a late game monster -- with what feels like infinite mobility and damage, he was a demon to deal with once he came online. These days his power has been distributed more evenly across the game, but he’s still a late game power house and will be a great threat onto enemy teams who are lacking in lockdown. Keys to Remember About Kassadin

  1. Kassadin is one of the best scaling champions in the game because his ultimate is reliant on having a large mana pool -- this lets him spam it constantly, which increases his damage and his mobility simultaneously. This means you should rarely give up on games with him because you're a ticking time bomb that will eventually go off.

  2. The flip side to the above is that you are extremely weak early. You are expected to lose lane, and you are expected to have lower priority when it comes to support plays near you -- you need to be on the same page with your jungler about this.

Strengths

He’s one of the most mobile champions in the game, which becomes more and more true as the game progresses and he’s able to build up his mana pool. Riftwalk [R] is his bread and butter and is simultaneously a big source of damage while providing extremely quick mobility, which makes him extremely good at jumping on enemies, deleting them, and then still being able to retreat from danger. He’s a champion that will give your team chances in late game even if you fall behind early, but if you’re able to get him ahead early, then he can snowball the game out of control for your team.

Weaknesses

He’s very weak early, which means he has no priority in lane to help junglers out for any sort of early objective or fight. Enemy mid laners can harass him off of the minion wave and do their best to slow down his scaling, and they can also use their priority to then roam around the map to help another teammate gain an advantage. He’ll need to pick between using Null Sphere [Q] for farming or for CSing, and even at level 6, he won’t have much kill pressure -- it’s going to be an extended period where he’s weak, and sometimes Solo Queue games can be decided well before he’s able to come online.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: He doesn’t have many options aside from playing safe early to secure as much CS as possible. At best, he can bait enemies into overextend and then rely on his jungler to secure the kill.

  2. Mid Game: Depending on how early game went, he can either start to find kills or now still focus on farming to secure items and levels.

  3. Late Game: At this point, he should be extremely strong, and can look for kills any time champions overextend. He can also just dive into the backline if he’s able to approach form the side.
