Overview
Top lane is a special place in that it has a small pool of champions that are universally hated by every top laner, and even the people who play the champions in that pool get it. Quinn is one of the biggest offenders in that bucket. She’s a ranged champion, which is already annoying to deal with, and her hit makes it so that she is always playing aggressively and always pushing -- a recipe that will have enemies calling for repeated jungle help. Keys to Remember About Quinn
Quinn is a bit unorthodox as a top laner -- your main job is to win lane and to win it hard. This means you generally don't want to be picking it into champions that can hold their own against you, and it also means you need to balance aggressive play with being able to stave off enemy jungle pressure.
She has a lot of potential as an assassin in the mid game especially -- just one combo of spells can delete most squishy champions, so be sure to punish any of them that overextend in side lanes especially.
Well, if you are confident the enemy jungler isn’t going to visit your lane, and you want to ensure that you win the lane, then there are very few champions in top lane who can properly match Quinn. She’s one of the biggest early game bullies, and she excels at making sure the opposing top laner hates their life. Most of this comes from her being a ranged champion, but combining Blinding Assault [Q] with Vault [E] allows her to also get great chunk damage with her abilities without risking her own safety. And once she has access to Behind Enemy Lines [R], she can just keep her lane shoved up and then roam to help harass other lanes or the enemy jungler. She’s also great at finding picks on isolated targets throughout the game.
Weaknesses
She struggles with all-ins, as her ultimate isn’t a huge power spike compared to other champions. This means she’ll want to build an early lead and then try to keep a health advantage over her opponents throughout the lane phase by poking. Being pushed up all the time, though, makes it easy for enemies to gank her if not outright camp her lane -- this will require you to pay close attention to where the enemy jungler could be at all times. She’ll also struggle in team fights, as she’s caught between being a ranged ADC or an assassin and thus excelling at neither in a straight up 5v5. If your team is forced to group, you’re going to have much less value than what tanks can bring to afight.
Game Plan
Early Game: She has an extremely powerful early game -- you should be looking to bully the enemy laner as much as possible while thwarting any jungle pressure. If you can draw ganks and consistently stay alive through them, your team will be able to gain a lot of tempo.
Mid Game: She should focus on split pushing at this point and only roaming to look for picks with her ultimate -- the speed allows her to quickly scout for enemies and then return to split pushing duties.
Late Game: The game plan shouldn’t change from mid game -- as long as you can keep the enemy top with you, that’s almost always going to be better than having both of you join in on 5v5s.
