Yoru VALORANT Guide

Yoru VALORANT Guide

Overview

Yoru is a duelist that is built on trickery -- whether it’s sending in his clones to scout for him or being able to teleport away to a different location or using his ultimate to stealthily run at opponents, he comes equipped with a lot of tools to help you and your team break angles. Combined with a barrage of flashes, he can then convert his angle breaking into a lot of easy kills in the hands of a strong player.

Role: Duelist

Duelists are the primary entry agent for your team.

On defense, they look to hold early angles opponents might peek from to get information, or they may work with your team’s initiators to make aggressive plays on defense. They also are the ones most likely to push through an opening to find a flank.

On attack, they are expected to be the first person to break an angle. Many duelists come equipped with tools that enable this, which means duelists are usually the agents who will see the most gun fights throughout the course of a game.

Tips and Tricks

  • Fakeout [C] is a very creative ability in that it sends a clone of Yoru out in front of him -- enemies with poor trigger discipline will inevitably shoot it, and if they’re in the open, they’ll be flashed and die. Even the best players will snap trigger sometimes -- especially in moments of heightened chaos or tension.

  • It’s more of a meme than an actual play at this point, but you could also pretend to be the clone yourself by running in a straight line. This will be more successful if you’ve parsed out that enemies are not shooting your clone as it enters, though it will always be a risk.

  • You can complicate matters with Gatecrash [E] -- if played correctly, you can make it feel like you’re approaching from multiple angles, and it will throw off opponents who aren’t ready to react to you.

  • Gatecrash [E] can be comboed with Blindside [Q] -- you flash where you intend to jump to and then jump to it and kill the blinded enemies.

  • Gatecrash [E] is also capable of traversing great distances -- only big open maps, this means Yoru can teleport to extremely deep positions.

  • And when you need someone to just clear site, then Dimensional Drift [X] is a great tool for quickly identifying where enemies are hiding. A common play with it is to carry a shorty and then Blindside [Q] opponents before dispelling your stealth to shoot them.
