Taric Build Guide

Taric Build Guide

Overview

If you want to have a fabulous time, then look no further than the gem-adorned Taric. He’s a champion that comes with one of the best disengage and re-engage tools in the game and can single handedly win fights with a well timed ultimate. He’s a great pick when you need a champion that can give your entire team vulnerability for a couple seconds (against enemy ults with long durations, for example). Keys to Remember About Taric

  1. Taric's ultimate is difficult to play around for both teams, especially if you're trying to use it reactively. If you are proactive with it, you can often guarantee value as your team can sometimes die before it pops up if you are using it to try to save them.

  2. Dazzle [E] can be placed on allies with the help of Bastion [W], so you'll pair well with mobile champions who can quickly reposition to land your stun.

Strengths

Cosmic Radiance [R] is one of the strongest tools in the game when used correctly -- providing full immunity to your team is extremely powerful as long as your team is actually able to use that window to secure advantages in the fight. This makes it very good with hyper carry champions -- the more carries you have on your team, the better. Taric also has good pick potential throughout the game thanks to Dazzle [E] allowing him to maintain good bush control -- in general, teams face-checking into Taric are going to have a bad time. With Bastion [W], he’s also able to find long range stuns to support allies from afar.

Weaknesses

If the enemy team is able to bait out the Cosmic Radiance [R] and then re-engage, it can easily bait your team into being in bad positions. Further, if your team is weak and unable to do much to begin with, then the ultimate is only going to delay the inevitable. Taric is a champion that needs his teammates to be strong in order for him to have good impact on the game, as his kit revolves around amplifying and supporting teammates rather than making individual plays himself. In the early game, he has sustain, but it costs a lot of mana, so enemies will still be able to harass him from range, which means he needs to land Dazzle [E] to fight back, but it’s a spell that is easily dodged because of the windup time.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: Look to play safe -- you can look for timings for Dazzle [E] if your ally has dashes or if a jungler comes, but it’s typically hard to get a good fight off without the enemy mispositioning.

  2. Mid Game: Support your strong allies by roaming around the map -- you can make plays with them as your support abilities will be a welcome bonus.

  3. Late Game: Taric is very strong once you’re able to team fight more. He brings a lot of utility to the table, but landing a good Cosmic Radiance [R] is still going to be the deciding factor in many fights.
